Ryan Reynolds stars as Green Lantern, with Blake Lively as the hero’s love interest, Carol Ferris.

News comes today via DC Comics’ Geoff Johns’ twitter account that Mark Strong will officially be playing Sinestro, arguably The Green Lantern’s greatest adversary throughout the comics. Strong seems to be the first choice in Hollywood when casting bad guys right now, securing this role which Jackie Earl Haley was also widely linked with. Sinestro may play a smaller role in the Martin Campbell’s first installment with the character likely to play a bigger part in the franchise should the 2011 release prove to be a success.

What is your favorite Blake Lively performance and why?

The DVD and Blu Ray release for the film is scheduled for March 2nd 2010.

The film follows its title character Pippa Lee, played by Blake Lively and Robin Wright Penn. After nearly two decades caught under the wing of an aging husband (Alan Arkin), devoted mother and housewife Pippa Lee (Robin Wright) undergoes a midlife breakthrough. Unearthing the sexually curious wild child of her teens (as portrayed by Blake Lively), Pippa sparks a relationship with a kindred soul (Keanu Reeves). Lively and Wright deliver a stunning and revelatory performances in Pippa Lee; a wry, moving, and complex portrait of the many lives behind a single name. The film was released in theaters November 27th, 2009.

Also given early pickups for next season are The CW’s Monday night sensation Gossip Girl, which is The CW’s number one show among its target demographic of women 18-34.

Other popular shows scheduled for return are Supernatural, 90210, America’s Next Top Model and new series The Vampire Diaries.

Executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to answer fan questions and tease viewers about what’s to come as season three wraps up.
