The CW has given early pickups to series for next season, of these five shows, Gossip Girl. The show will return in fall 2010 for season four. From the network:

Also given early pickups for next season are The CW’s Monday night sensation Gossip Girl, which is The CW’s number one show among its target demographic of women 18-34.

Other popular shows scheduled for return are Supernatural, 90210, America’s Next Top Model and new series The Vampire Diaries.

Gossip Girl returns March 8, and it sounds like it will come back with a bang.

Executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to answer fan questions and tease viewers about what’s to come as season three wraps up.

Read on for what is to come with the remaining episodes – warning: spoilers! Some of it will hopefully turn out to be pretty exciting, for the lackluster third season (in my opinion).

Billy Baldwin is heading to Gossip Girl, but he’s not entirely comfortable with his new role – as Serena van der Woodsen’s dad.

“So you’re gonna go play Blake Lively’s dad on Gossip Girl?’” Alec Baldwin asked his younger brother on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet after taking over the Access Hollywood microphone from Access‘ own Shaun Robinson.

“Ooh, that hurt,” Billy said, referring to his brother’s question. “Three years ago I would have been playing the older man in her life and now, all of a sudden, I’m playing her dad.”

And Alec stuck it to his 36-year-old brother, who was last seen on TV as the politico brother on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money.

“It seems like yesterday you’d be kissing Blake Lively. Now you’re trying to prevent other men from kissing Blake Lively,” Alec said, turning the knife a little more.

“I would’ve been Blake Lively’s lollipop three years ago,” Billy sighed. “Now I’m Grandpa.”
